Back at 2nl now, my losses are worse than ever and I cant even beat the fish anymore. I've been starting to know when im beat and try to discipline myself, even learning to fold queens pre and post flop when there is something off about my opponents' actions (I folded QQ on a low card flop after 3betting and getting 2 villains after one villain 3bet first villain's min raise and to my glee, saw that I made the right decision and lost the minimum). I've opened up my range a little and have started to even win a little with middle pairs and use pot control to keep losses at a minimum. But somehow, despite following the same rules as before, money flows out instead of in. I've tried taking a break to cool down and control my tilt and play multiple tables to keep my emotions in check. I try to play disciplined poker but rarely ever win a big pot anymore. My micro money makers are folded to or cracked by sets. It almost makes me think somehow my cards are on display to the table. I dont have rakeback (Party has no rake back which sucks big time) so there is no real loss there. I could move to Pokerstars and play zoom or SnGs where the rake is a little more beatable but villains are tougher so I'll probably just run into the same situation. And by withdrawing now, I still made a tiny profit from my short poker venture and learned about the game and myself which in itself has been quite rewarding. I doubt another break will help any and Im not sure what else I can study to beat the micros since more advanced strategies will probably not work against the calling stations and fish who call with any two suited cards and ABC poker should be enough to crush the micros according to everyone here and on 2+2. I think the worst thing however is my complete loss in confidence in myself. I know I was on a hot streak in the beginning of my career but it might just have been that hot streak that made me money and not my skill at all. How does a poker player rebuild himself? Im no pro and was starting poker so I could have something fun to do and make some pocket money on the side but it seems thats out the window now that I cant even beat the worst players at the game.
