The downswing are overcome in this way;

When you play enough hands to overcome the variance.
When you evaluate your own game; ¿Do I always play my sessions with my A-Game? ¿Am I playing when I'm on tilt? ¿I play with distractions? ....
When you evaluate your rivals; ¿Are the rivals I face at the tables better than me?
When you have the discipline to improve your game.

The downswing can be resolved according to these points. But NEVER a good player would recommend that you switch to another modality as a solution to downswing. If you take the easiest path, in the end you end up being a mediocre player.

I usually stick to tournaments I find I make more sound decisions. When I play cash games I have a tendency to take unnecessary risks that I wouldn’t typically make usually resulting in a loss of bankroll.

I play tournaments more than cash games, but when i play cash game i feel it more easy and can make decision more prcise. I think it depends on how you play and how your good decisions to make. Good luck.

when i'm struggled in tournaments i know that i can change my tactic to fold/all-in (maybe some tricks with premium hands) but that doesn't work when you play cash games. that is the big reason why i don't play cash.

I like tourememts because I find a prolonged session of the ebbs and flows of poker will truly show what type of player you are... I try to put away any attachment to the money as playing with emotions will not pan out... i lost $190 in one night because of tilt.

I know all of these things already, thank you for sharing. Most of the mediocre poker players lose money, I don't know am I a good player, but I can pay my bills with my poker profits, and yes, I still switch game type when I feel like it. Also, I don't have serious downswing problems because I play less than before + more focused, I prefer to play A-Game for one hour per day, than C-Game for ten hours.

I don't know who "good player" you relate to, but I can choose between any game type at my current stakes and I can make a profit from all of them. Why should I "fight with downswings" when I can make money instead? I really don't have time for that. Losing money sucks, I hate it.:tomato:

I know some players prefer tournaments, but use cash games to supplement income to use for those tournaments.

p.s. I like tournaments because of the table stakes and the idea that you could be the last one standing

Yes, I like to play tournaments and if, I am running bad on lots of tournaments I like to go to tables an make up for some of the buying lost in tournaments.

in fact i never played cash because i think there is more study than any other modality, but i played just sit and go because i didn't want to face the giant fields of micros tournaments and play for hours for a few dollars. So I played STT until I built a bank where I could join the MTT and support his variance. If I were you I would only play one game, playing several games may even bring you some knowledge of them, but you will never become an expert in one if you do not dedicate yourself to it.

I guess it is about what keeps the mind busy and interested mostly in your case.
I am also switching types of games often, but not so much to the cash games. But sometimes I even do this from time to time. Mostly when there is some promo of some room about this, that is interesting me.
But usually I am switching between MTTs, SNGs (6-handed turbo and hyper DONs) or Spin&Gos (the last one rarely).

I play only tournaments. I like the fact that risk is much lower there as the only thing you can loose is your buyin. Also due to increasing blinds there is no possibility people to just wait for strong cards like on cash games. Dynamic of the game is much better in tournaments. Of course for some people cash game is better so best advice is to try them all and see which game is best for you.
