When you're playing in a tournament you find your self in more situations were your are forced to go all in to keep up with the blinds. Unless you get into that comfortable range where you are in the top 20% then you can open up you're playing range and make easier calls. But in order to get to this position you have to get lucky from the get go which involves risking a large portion of your stack from the beginning.
