Perhaps some people are attempting to camouflage their stats (or excuse poor ones), or they've played in the stakes/games that aren't fully covered by the given stat site.  There are several stat sites and I can't speak for them all, but I find PTR and OPR pretty accurate for myself, so I have to assume they'll be pretty close for others that play the same games as I do. As to the OP's question of do I use them while playing, generally no.  I do run HEM and its HUD, so the regulars I play with I already have stats on.  However, occasionally you get a rude loudmouth who loves to constantly berate the play of others, and boast about his own poker prowess.  People like this tend to tilt me, so when it happens I'll sometimes spin around to the laptop between hands and scope them.  Almost always, these folks are complete liars about their game, and I can sometimes use that knowledge against them.
