To be truthful. My first "big win" actually came from a $500 Loss on the poker tables. I was leaving the casino with only $20 in hand and stopped by a 3x2 row of $1 min Slots. I had never played slots at that point so I was like, "Meh why not?" I threw the $20 in and it snowballed into a jackpot on that of $1500 and then the next one over I got another $1500 jackpot. Then while waiting for the hand-pay I moved over and hit a $6000 jackpot. So, the first thing I did next day with all that money in hand was pay my landlord 6 months rent up-front. Then same with electricity and cell-phone. I owned my car so I paid 6 months insurance up front. With the winnings I went back to the casino and amazingly won another $3000 playing slots on the Hi-Roller Wheel of Fortune. I used that to pay off almost $2500 in debt that I checked on my credit report. Then I paid almost $1500 in maintenance and annual repairs to my car through Toyota. After that I lost it all to the slots (not Poker amazingly). This may sound like I lost but actually I was waaaaaaay ahead. :D EDIT: I had to sign the IRS info on those 3 payouts so I owed the Gov 30% on those 3 winnings. I hired an accountant who took my gambling info sheets (using my Casino win/loss statements 'make sure you have your card and register at casinos you play at to access this') and my overall win/loss tax accountability ended up being just $300. So that's important if you gamble and win. :)
