You take all the money that was used for it and dump it into education, community centers, and rehabilitation. Cigarette smoking in the US shows the proof. When you educate people from a very young age about the harmful effects of smoking, most people made the right decision to never start. Then with education of the current smokers, over 50% of smokers have quit. The use of tobacco products has dropped by 62% since this education program was started. Drugs are not the problem! Break down of family, single parent homes, unsupervised and under education of children, lack of funding for community outreach programs, and the lure of fame and money through TV is the problem. You legalize the drugs, make tax money on them, put people to work making them, and educate people with all this money and the problem will subside. It will never go away but at least it is minimized the most efficient way possible. Lastly, the added benefit of violent crime dropping. After the prohibition of alcohol was lifted, violent crime in the US dropped 75% ! The solution is NOT a "war on drugs!" [/QUOTE]
