I do not understand why people insist that poker is not gambling. It makes absolutely no sense to deny it. A wager is placed on an uncertain outcome, hence by definition it is gambling, PERIOD. It can not be disputed logically. The argument that poker requires certain skills or that you need to be skillful to win in the long term some how makes it not gambling make no sense. 
 
Most people would agree that black jack is a form of gambling but skill and knowledge can and will aid the player, but most of the time luck prevails and since players are playing against the “house,” the house wants to increase its edge to ensure that they make money. They do this by instituting rules that greatly reduce the player’s edge. They combine 6-8 or more decks, they add a cut card that is randomly placed somewhere in the combined deck to foil card counters, they also place a max bet rule so that you can not double your bet after loosing a hand (you can, but you will soon hit that max bet mark and not be able to make up for you losses), sometimes they remove all the 10s and call it Spanish 21 (I call it fools blackjack). A good poker player is similar to the casino; he/she has an edge if they are playing their “A” game they know they will win in the long run despite the element of luck and despite loosing down turns. Wining or not poker players are gamblers. Poker is gambling. Accept it; it’s not a crime (except on the internet in the USA[FONT=Wingdings]J[/FONT])
