I see posts all over poker forums about bad beats & variance. I hear people who I play Live with discuss hands that "should've won" all the time but, what many are failing to realize is the "how" that particular hand was played and should the hand have been played differently. A bad beat would be me with 10 blinds shoving AA preflop getting called by 10-J Flop: A,K,Q Turn: 7 River: 3 (rainbow). A so-called bad beat shoving a hand like AK or AQ preflop for 35 blinds and getting called by a hand like 10-J that rivers a straight. Players often fail to see the variables involved in any race. Observe a player after she or he has taken a hit or few. You may likely see changes in his/her play. Players may not often realize when they are on tilt and they try to convince themselves that they have "moved on" but have they? I make the most profit not based upon how well I've been playing but from the mistakes that my opponents make. This is exactly how players make their profit. It's normal to go through downswings, we all experience them. However, if your downswings continue to last and you're bankroll is quickly depleting or you haven't been able to build a bankroll perhaps you should reconsider if it's really just a "downswing" that you're going through.[/SIZE] [/QUOTE]
