well I think holdem has skill involved, where as video poker is just strategy based play and has zero skill involved. all you do is learn the GTO strat in video poker and hope you get lucky. But in holdem you can gain a significant edge over your opponents and make good money.

Ultimately video poker is a calculable game with limited variables compared to Hold'em (which has extreme variables many of which are not predictable like betting size) and hence solvable hence controllable. Solvable games are offered for guaranteed long term profit by the wicked casino. No matter what you do you are guaranteed to lose money in Video Poker, so why play? No you cannot game the system by picking the right machine but you can game the system by quitting after winning big. Hold'em on the other hand is a legendary game that is known to be very beatable generally considering the variables (now a days everyone is solid or better at Hold'em) so the games to profit from are the other poker variants especially PLO. Now there are other variables to take into account like promos overlap, but generally stay away from calculable games unless you are playing them very short term for disposable sums of money.

Only time I play Video Poker is on vacation for less than $200, Deuces Wild, with preferable a qualitative promo like progressive jackpot attached other than that I enjoy myself at the Hold'em table or PLO tables online.

I'm not even sure you can be +ev in video poker, even if you play perfectly.

No machine offered at a casino will ever be profitable for the player long term

if you know how to play normally and you have the skills to play in hold'em, then hold'em is an excellent game for playing and winning and earning, but at some points you need to be careful in the game and understand what you will do next so that you have a win and how at one point you did not lose everything at once!

Hello.
In fact, there is still a third option. Just go to work.
