Ever feel ashamed at playing 7/2 6/2 and other hands ?

Or is it just all in the motion ? ive done this before only to get that dirty feeling afterwards especially when the straight hits or the flush comes...i mean we cant all play A/K all the time right ?? i mean business is business...?? And what makes it worse is that when i DECIDE to fold em...the straight comes and im pissed at it

No shame in my game.

I'm never ashamed because the only time I play them is in the BB with no raises or in the SB when it is just the BB and I left. And if I call and he raises I fold. Don't get me wrong I've bluffed with these hands in late position when the time feels right and think about playing them after four or five flops of nothing but high cards but I resist that urge. I too watch the hands and think well if I had called I would have won with a str8 or flush or whatever, but something tells me that what you see isn't always what you would have had. Not exactly sure how the dealing works online. Are the cards dealt to the players and the board already in place at the start of a hand like in a real game or is there some sort of random shuffle thing that takes place during the hand? That seems a little strange to even mention that. Not going down the poker is rigged trail but thought I read in CC sometime ago how the timing of the play is involved. Perhaps it was one of those that claimed rigged. Btw that is just my opinion. Everyone has their own style of play and sometimes a favorite hand that even though all logic says fold they play it anyway. Changing it up can be a good thing because you're right you won't always be dealt AA,AK. If you feel dirty after winning with these cards:bath: Stick with what makes you comfortable,but remember position is everything.

Not sure at what you're trying to say there dawgbones, the most logical way the cards come is a shuffle then deal, just like live. I don't think it changes the order no matter what happens after the shuffle. Wherever you heard it it just sounds like moaning by someone who isn;t very good at poker.

Well to play junk hands like that, you gotta be good at bluffing. I
find that its best to play those hands when someone throws out
a particular raise like hes representing AK or something close to
that nature and 10 or lower hits the flop. You can always take
advantage of the situation there. But when you raise preflop with
those hands its al little harder to bluff to me especially if theres
more than one caller. So yeah i play any two cards depending on
the situation if im bluffin, check raise, etc..

Like I said I remember reading it in a thread and you're probably right it's someone who sux at poker or one of the "online poker is rigged" conspiracy theorists.

There is absolutely 100% nothing wrong with playing junk as long as your playing in the right game. If your stack is deep and your at a uber tight/passive table then ATC will work. Im not saying you start taking every flop, but mixing up your play with a few junk hands will change how your opponents see you and potentially increase your EV for the session.

There is a time and a place for it, the blinds for one, as said above. You shouldn't be playing 72 ever (unless in the BB, and a couple of other situations), it's not connected and is the worst hand statistically in poker. Playing suited connectors and gap connectors is a strategy that many players use. As you said and I highlighted above, we can’t all play A/K all the time. If we did this we wouldn’t make any money. You should also take into consideration, position and the blinds. If I have a good idea of what a couple of players are doing and they limp while you’re on the button, raise it 3x with anything. At this point you are playing the player, not the cards. If the flop comes and the texture looks like something you would play with a 3x raise preflop, ie any A, K, Q, or J hits, and everyone checks to you, fire a C bet. The majority of the time you will take the pot down right there. And you’re hole cards could be anything (ie 72). Only do this sparingly and if you have a good idea that your opponent will fold to a C bet. If they start playing back at you it’s probably the time to let your hand go.

I won a big hand recently with 23s although I was on the BB and saw the flop for nothing. The flop was 332 I could not believe it. Every body checked round to the guy on the button who went all in. I was thinking am I missing something here and it took me a few secs to make the call. Everybody else folded. I cannot even remember what he had but it was nothing special and I won the hand easily. He was going nuts at me calling me a donk and various other names. He could not seem to understand that I was in the BB and saw the flop for nothing.

Winning a hand with 72 or ANY hand at all where you get to see the flop cheap/free isn't even slightly embarrassing.

What is embarrassing? Losing a stack from UTG with AA in a raised pot because you barrelled into a TAG villain 3 times with an UI overpair and he owned your face.

No shame at all. They are my cards and my chips, until someone can take the chair and chips away. Position and situation rules.

You can't play bad hands all the time, or you will slowly and surely go broke. Sometimes not so slowly. Low hands that hit can be hard to play too. Many hands over the years I've folded 2 low suited cards, would have flopped a flush, only to see a 4 flush on the river with someone holding the Q, K or A.

If you rarely play those bad hands, you might come out ahead in the long run, but it has to be the right time and place.

I LOVE 7/2off on the button!!! But only play it if the situation presents itself right (though there have been times i've been guilty of pushing a bad situation on principle...stupid). I play very tight, and get into very few hands. If i get 7/2 in late position, and very few players limp in, i will put out a 3-5x raise and push out most if not all of the players. If the flop comes and someone bets I cut my losses and run, if it checks around to the raiser, I pull the trigger again with a pot sized bet. When everyone folds (which usually happens if it goes down like I described)...it's one of the rare times i don't muck!!!. This usually draws all kinds of comments about what a donk I am. I then tighten right back up and the next time i get a monster, i bet it exactly the same way. Once they see what a donk i can be I get no respect when i have the nuts. So shame?....NOPE!!!

Well, it is online, so a degree of anonymity. But TMI, shine.

Why feel shame for playing any 2 cards any way you want to, it's poker! Spme people always seem to call you a donk for playing a strange combo but no one cries donk when they get bluffed by the same two cards. They always seem to accept being bluffed a lot easier.

I love winning a pot with crappy cards, getting some unexpected value out of a hand that really has none at all is always a good thing. There's nothing like looking at my database and seeing something like J6o as a winner
