So I'm playing in this tournament yesterday and, at first, everything appears to be normal. For the first five or six hands it's business as usual. Big blind, small blind, call, call, call, etc. but then come about the seventh hand and I make a small raise and, instantly, everbody folds their hands. I win. The next hand comes up, I get dealt a small pair and decide to open with a little stronger bet then normal...everybody folds...hmmmm. The next hand I get dealt total garbage but I raise the minimum instead of just calling and again everybody folds. And this went on for the next twenty hands, like clockwork I won every single hand uncontested. I raise and everybody folds until finally at one point one player stops the gravy train and calls my raise. It actually startled me for a second because I had gotten used to zero resistance.
The bottom line is I'm wondering what was behind that weirdness. Was I playing against nine other robots that were programmed to fold at the first sign of risk? Or was it an instance of just nobody showing up to play after they had registered. If anybody can tell me if they have experienced this before and if so, what was going on please let me know. Thanks in advance. Best regards and good luck...............

Never seen this before. If they were sitting out they wouldn't have called the blinds in the earlier hands. What site were you playing on?

Everyone must have been on sit-out, you didn't mention what type of tourney this was but I will assume from what you said that it was a free-roll where this type of thing does happen, though rarely, more often than not you may be in a room with half the table sitting out. But when you do get a room full of sitouts get busy and nick as many blinds as you can before people start waking up. They are probably multi-tabling and have their attentions elsewhere, or doubled up early and are happy to sit-out and come back later.

Once I had a room full of sitouts where nobody came back and I was able to take the blinds all the way until midway in the second session (after break). Needless to say I cashed easily that day ;).
