A while back, I reported that Frank Kassela took Player of the Year this year... well, he's not out of the woods, yet. Going into the main event, Frank had 285 points, and Michael is currently in 5th place with 190 pts. Frank took an extra 5 pts for a total of 290 pts... and as we all know, Michael is at the final 9 of the main event. If he wins.. he will tie Frank for 290 pts. Michael has already made more money in the wsop 2010, and obviously, he will make a more substantial amount of money if he were to win.

So, in a case of a tie.. who would take PotY? Would it be Michael Mizarchi since he ended up making more money at the WSOP 2010, or would they leave it as a tie?

Is it possible that they'll go by bracelets earned? Money earned? Prestige? Winning the main event is big after all, I don't think they'd be able to deny Mizrachi the honor of at least sharing the the player of the year.... dunno.

Well Kassela won 2 and if Mizrachi wins the ME, he'd have 2 as well. Next you'd have to figure cashes or money earned. But based on how they mentioned it, I believe the WSOP would just recognize them as co-POY's. I don't believe there is an official tiebreaker.

That's what I'm wondering... I think if Mizarchi wins the Main Event.. he should be PotY. I don't like the idea of co-PotY's personally.

I think they should look at it like this:

First, who has the most points? (Obviously)
Mizarchi and Kassela would tie for 290 pts.

Second, who won more bracelets this year?
Mizarchi and Kassela would tie for 2 bracelets a piece

Third, who won more money this year?
Mizarchi would have won a considerable more amount of money than Kassela.. therefore he shold get it.

That's just my opinion, though. In poker, if two players have the same winning hand, they go with the higher kicker... so they should do that with the PotY as well.
