Now, a deep understanding of poker isn't for everyone, which is why I'm asking about your goals. ToP is nowhere near as thick as SS2, but it's a whole lot harder to actually grasp, and requires a lot of studying and [I]thinking[/I] about poker. I went through a lot of "aha!" moments before I felt like I actually got it. Specifically, I'd analyze some hands I had played and suddenly had an epiphany, like "ohhh - THAT'S what he meant when he said I should check the river in early position with a mediocre hand."
 
Your winrate won't improve by reading ToP; it will improve by reading ToP and then thinking about the game away from the table. If you know that it's your immediate winrate that you want to work on, SS2 is perhaps the better buy.
