The obvious advice is to NEVER play for more than you are prepared to lose.  This is the logical side of things, but when addictions are involved, there is not usually a lot of logic.  So EVERYONE:  :):)  PLEASE DON'T PLAY IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE.:):)

As for how do we deal with our opponents who may have a gambling problem (i.e. addiction).  This is a real ethical dilemma.  In the real world, I would never intentionally harm anyone else, this goes against my ethical code.  So how do I deal with harming someone at a poker table by taking their money?  Unfortunately, I have to do a mind trick on myself and convince myself that everyone here is just competing, like any sport, and we all want to win, and to win, we must have a certain self serving attitude to play the best we possibly can.  I have to assume that the other player can afford it, or they wouldn't be there.  I realize being oblivious like this, is a "head in the sand" kind of thing, but if i don't find a way to deal with it, my conscience would probably not allow me to play.:mad:
