Really look has nothing much to do with the game at all

Those who know nothing about poker almost always say that poker is just gambling and nothing else. There is definitely a lot of skill involved in poker and the better player you are, obviously the more likely you are to make money on a consistent basis. On the flip side, i also believe there is an enormous amount of luck involved in poker. Maybe i just have terrible luck lately but even when i play optimal poker i sometimes run into some ridiculous run bad. For example, i have AA.... I raise pre anywhere between 4-7x the bb... This depends on how the particular table is playing. I get called by AK or whatever and they flop Q,J,10,blank, blank... That would just be bad luck. Or even worse, some super donk calls with Q7 or whatever and flops 2 pair and i dont improve, thats just very bad luck. This has happened to me more times than i believe should have happened. So my point is i guess there will be times in poker when all the skill in the world will mean absolutely nothing if you just have terrible luck.[/QUOTES

If you're going to play one Friday night okay luck has everything to do with it but when a poker player sits down at the table he isn't sitting down at the table for that one night one night out of thousands of nights poker has nothing to do with that....
After the you put in tons of volume deviation from odds gets extremely thin if it didn't casinos would go bust.

The House always wins...

One of the rooms, I will not name it, advertises that poker is a sport. But I don't quite agree. Yes, there is a competitive spirit, but it's still not a sport. Likewise, I cannot attribute it to gambling, because here not only luck, but also long work, knowledge is needed. Although where without luck?) For example, today there was a distribution: I open with AK and two all-in 74 bb and 49 bb fly at me and with what do you think, 93 and 72. 93 wins))
To give one more example about the casino if someone is counting cards at blackjack and is sitting there all night winning ...
How does the casino know that he's counting cards or cheating?
Simple he's winning

Hi Friend.

The problem with micro limits is that they play you with whatever it is and many times they beat you.

For me, poker is more of a sport than a gamble. When I spend time playing poker, I prefer to think that I spend time on sports than on gambling.

Of course, poker can be classified as "sports". What is gambling? Excitement is an emotion associated with the anticipation of success. Agree that excitement can be present in absolutely any sport - this is a human factor, and it occurs wherever there is competition. Then we can call gambling anything: school competitions, sports competitions, card games, and so on. In fact, poker is a priori a sport, because it meets all the signs of sport, because sport is the activity of people organized according to certain rules and representing a certain type of physical or intellectual activity performed for the purpose of competition.

Gambling becomes only for those who do not work on the game relying on luck. Although luck comes with development, patience and hard work. A bad outcome in a hand is only due to the fact that people are afraid to admit their mistakes.

Poker is for sure not a sport but it's not gambling either. I think of poker as a mind game.

As for your luck, where is luck not involved in life. Make a left and get hit by car would be bad luck. Looking to retire on a 401K well you better be lucky if the markets go up.

Yes there is luck in poker but we also at time make our own luck. Poker is about math and reading the table and flop, turn and river textures. Many time people will bemoan their bad luck and yes there were not lucky but did not lose all their chips due to bad luck but more to bad play. Take Aces for one. I should win 82% of the time. They bet 2 black aces and get called and the flop is 678 of 2 hearts, they bet big and get called. Turn is a ten and they bet again and get called. River is a king of hearts and then they jam? They will talk about the bad beat but never look and say could they have flopped 2 pair, turned a straight with a 9 or the rivered flush. They will never talk about the bad Jam on a very bad run out. This is where the luck factor involves skill. To not make big mistakes when luck is not in your favour.

In poker you don't just win with strong pairs, it's the same in sports, you don't just win your favorite teams

Of course in online poker you need to have lots of luck to be able to earn something.
If soft plays against you, sure it,s better not to play for some time in this room and try to find another place for a game. Right now lots of people in online poker can play really good, so you need to be able to show good poker skill.
Usually soft become to play against you after you cashout money from the room. On stars this happens everytime. Sure it,s not rigged at all. Anyway it,s better not to play there for sometime and try another rooms, because right now there are lots of poker rooms and you can choose anyone of them.

Hello to all!
I absolutely agree that there is little chance of winning in poker without luck, I had a hand at the final table when I got a 2.7o call against my AQs, the flop gave the villain a full house, and what technique will help here?

poker is a game of skill, the luck factor as everything in life will always exist, in all sports there is luck, but it is always in smaller proportion, the game of poker is 90% skill 8% luck, sometimes these cases happen, but what you should always be thinking about is your game and nothing else, the results will come by themselves, poker is always long term and do not expect, or measure results only with a hand that went wrong, or a day that I did not get anything, in this sport discipline and perseverance are key.

Absolutely. There are times when you are just unlucky and nothing can be done about it. During these times you will still lose. Therefore, it is very important to endure such periods of time and have a bankroll margin.

If poker is a game of luck, it means that there are people who are constantly very lucky, and there are people who are constantly unlucky - but poker is mathematics and mathematics is an exact science !!!

you told some of the story, but not all. people calling and catching is part of the game, but did you fold and save some money, or did you go all the way and lose. laying down a monster when you know your beat wins money. how much was in the pot when you called? if you would've folded, that much that was in the pot is what you won. study harder.

Poker is a game of skill, much like Chess or Backgammon. You set your hands up for future moves, and set a strategy to take everyone's chips.
The sport of it comes with being able to endure the long hours it takes to win consistently.
Although, there are players who think it's a game much like Bingo
