I don't think it makes a difference in general. Though its like cheffing, Men seem to be more single minded so there are more male pros. But a half decent female player could wipe the floor with most men, whilst doing household tasks. And I would be terrified to play against a female Pro in person, much harder to manipulate.

Women, not "girls"..

There are no "girls" in poker, workplace, etc. They are women. To grow the game, opportunities for women in poker will open. With greater numbers, there will be an increase in celebrity, ability of women players. I see a bright future in poker for women.

I've been pretty frequent in terms of different casinos over the past few years in California. Typically the ratio seems like maybe 1 to 40. For every 4 tables youll maybe see one female. I would say that the ratio has stayed the same.... but I dont see many NEW females if that makes sense. So I tend to agree with you - we need some fresh new female faces. I dont know how you would go about getting them involved besides word of mouth. I'm definitely not going to put out a commercial or anything but it would be great to see more females at the table.

This brought me to another idea on how to weigh in on the situation. Men. Are. Pigs. Ninety percent of us are anyway. We also tend to not be able to hold our tongue when we're in our own environment. I've seen countless females be repeatedly hit on at poker tables when theyve asked politely for the gentleman to stop. So typically the females that I have seen playing poker that are decent looking are extremely thick skinned and will fire back when men try to hit on them like " Im way out of your league honey. "

That could be another reason why is that they give it a shot and tend to just feel uncomfortable. If they can get past that - or if the majority of men could keep their words and dingdongs in their pants - there might be an increase

I honestly think more women should play poker. The advantage they have is just that; playing with men who think they can outplay a women just cause she’s a women. But I have to say, testosterone benefits is men to stay disciplined and non emotional. Wonder how hard it is to keep emotions out of poker for women, whose essence is mostly made up of emotions and hormones. Gotta be just a little tougher. Which is why I applaud women who play.

I don't know of any girls that play poker or should play poker as there is a legal requirement in most countries for a girl to become a woman first before playing a gambling game.... Haha I see the thread title has got a lot of attention... women of world poker check out that thread if you get time..

I see women at the live tables all the time. I think it is weird to even bring it up, like women players are any different then men players. If your a poker player, Then you are a poker player. I would rather see the ladies more then the guys anyway.

Its been said a bunch, men are scum. Always have been always will be.

Possibly there is an evolutionary reason. Men gamble , women don’t. Cave men going after large prey with pointed sticks, women says those berries look tasty. Im not a scientist though so what do I know.
