Hi Claudiunm, this happens to everyone. Doyle Brunson used to have to get away every so often and go on trips to places where there was no card playing available for a week or two. The trick is to recognize when you're not on your game. He had friends he trusted who used to tell him, "Hey, Doyle, you don't seem to be on your game."

For me, I have these simple charts that I made up. They give a list of hands I allow myself to play depending on the number of people in the game. I also have a few edicts that I try to abide by, such as, I'd much rather be making big bets, putting the pressure on others, rather than calling the big bets. Once in a while I might deviate, that's ok. But after a few times of asking myself, why did you call that all-in when the hand wasn't strong enough on the chart to do that, or anytime I deviate from the charts and make stupid mistakes, I take a week off, or two. Absolutely no poker until I feel rested.

It's amazing, but after a few days you start to realize just how burned out you were. The trick is to play in games small enough and catch it early enough that you don't put your stake in jeopardy.

Whenever I adhere to the charts with solid strategy I do well, and when I don't I typically lose. My charts keep me grounded. You've got to find something that keeps you grounded.
