I'm trying to start measuring how many big blinds I make/lose per 100 hands I play. As I'm not the best at excel I need your help. Below is a scenario if you could answer but also show workings this will be really appreciated so I'll thank you in advance :)

I played 417 hands
Limit was .01 .02
I profited $1.09

How many big blinds have I won per 100 hands and how do you calculate it?

Better yet, how would I write this as a formula in excel, if anyone knows?

Thanks again
Custo

If I only Knew

If I knew the formula I could write it in excel. Let me look in the strategy articles and I'll get back to you.

So you have won $1.09 and your bb is 0.02 (2c), so total bb's won = 1.09/0.02 = 54.5bb's

So total bb/100 =

54.5/(417/100) = 54.5/4.17

= 13.069

=13.07bb/100

Spreadsheet may be something like this (winnings/bb)/(no of hands/100)

(1.09/0.02)/(417/100) I think

Jagsti, you are an absolute legend, =(1.09/0.02)/(417/100) was the exact formula. Thank you very much

Custo just realised this is limit so it's slightly different as the formula above is for BB/100 (big bet)

To get bb/100 you have to change the 0.02BB to 0.01bb, as the blinds are 0.05 and 0.1 I think.

Ok found it. The formula is (Total Amount Won)/(Total Hands Played/100).

In excel say a1 would be Total Amount Won and a2 would be total hands played, you would write the following formula in a3.... "=A1/(A2/100)" without the quotation marks.

At 0.01/0.02 would that not be a large investment for little return?

if you plan on staying at 0.01/0.02, yes.

But for the amount of hands OP was considering, the trial versions work. And PT still has a beta version that you can download and i guess that that beta requires no license.

Furthermore, if you ever plan to move up, then it's a great investment because it will improve your game much faster.

Get PT3 over HEM if you dont want to pay anything as with PT3 you get a 60 day trial period where you can import as many hands as your heart desires, whereas HEM restricts you to 5k hands trial.

but if you ever want to buy one, HEM is way better at the moment.

Don't worry Jagsti I did ignore the rambling :) It has bought up a new question for me though.

I understand that bb/100 measure big blinds won per hundred hands.
You've said, and I've heard it before about BB/100 which measures big bets per hundred hands. If this is the most obv. question then I apologize in advance but what is a big bet? Bearing in mind I'm on .01/.02.

Thanks again

Basically it's from limit, but some people use it for NL too, basically a big bet is double the big blind. So if you find out big blinds won/lost per 100 hands, just divide it by 2 to get your big bets won/lost per 100.

When figuring out bb/100 would the number of tables you play (if you MT) be a factor?
Or does it not matter if you MT because we are figuring out BB/100 for the (total profits/BB)/(hands/100)?

No

This. $/hour (and thus BB/hour, or whatever other unit per time) is impacted, but winrate per number of hands is static whether you play a million hands a second or if it takes you an hour to play one hand.
