how is the dealer chosen in 7stud h/l tourney

Since I do not remember ever looking at my stud HH's, it might be that every hand shows where the button is, and in such a case it might show you as the button through all the stud hands in HORSE.

It means nothing (I think), the action starts with the bring in card in in the studs. The button is only used in Hold em and Omaha. And it does stop moving during the studs.

Just one last question on this topic. In live poker is it the same? Does the dealer stay the same or does the button rotate? The only reason i ask is because in live poker and with a shuffle i have found that cards will be in somewhat similar positions after the shuffle and if i was always the dealer and 3rd position was getting all the goods most of the time it would start to bother me. Just curious?

The "dealer" doesn't change because there is no dealer during those games. The reason the button sits in the same spot through them all is so it'll be in the correct seat once the games that do use the button (LHE and O8) begin again and nobody misses or is hit with extra blinds.

That depends - do you mean live HORSE, or a stud-only live game?

In HORSE it'll work exactly the same as you've experienced online - the button moves around the table like normal during the hold 'em and Omaha rounds, then it'll pause in front of the same seat during the stud rounds.

In a stud-only game there doesn't need to be a button on the table - in a casino the dealer will just start dealing to seat one (on the dealer's immediate left) each time. In a home game often the deal will pass from player to player each hand, and whoever's dealing will start with the player on their left. In either case it has no effect on the action in the hand or its outcome. The bring in is still determined by the lowest / highest card as appropriate.

so a live stud game the person to left of the dealer always gets top card on deck. home games i get played alot of those. interesting i have never played either horse or stud at a casino good to know....

I recently played a live session of S8, and realized why casino's hate to spread it. From the dealers POV it is a PITA. Confusion prevails, and there seem to be too many helping hands. I marveled at the dealers ability to deal with the split pots, the 2nd pots, and the wackiness of those helping hands.

I love S8, but doubt I will play it live again just because I can't keep track of the action live. In the past I had played S8 without even thinking about the mechanics involved, I was playing for fun. Not now. OLP has ruined my live fun......

And just to clarify, Razz is a stud game, it used to be called Lowball.
