You cannot change peoples views of how they perceive a game that has historically had a bad reputation, I have had the same reaction from some Friends and Family  that believe it is a Major road to Hell and Damnation!
I have never made a deposit on any Poker Site, and as far as I am concerned the buy-in I pay to play in any game is always less than what some of my Friends lose at the Bookies, or pay to watch 22 grown men kick a ball around a field for 90 minutes!
Poker is a game of Skill! and although there is an element of chance, as there is when you are playing any game that requires a shuffled deck of cards, Primarily you still have to work out the mathematics of the game in your head. That is where the Skill comes into the game, knowing when to call, raise or fold, make a difference between winning or losing!
Sometimes I invite people to come and watch me play, or just watch an On-line Tournament so that I can explain the game as it happens! I still have not had any takers!
