Some people have tried to claim deductions for gambling losses and have went to tax court. They have all been denied which I think is a good thing because if they start accepting deductions for gambling losses then they will revisit gambling in the tax code and clearly define it making it taxable. Then we would have to pay taxes on all gambling winnings. Also as a side note lottery winnings are defined in the Canadian tax code as a "windfall" and are not taxable. [/QUOTE]
