If we define luck as say your made hand holding up against a draw, then as your sample size increases the % of times that your hands hold will converge on the true mathematical % value of this eventuality.

All players that play long enough will have their hands up hold up as often as each other, or at least to a mathematically significant value.

Income, imo, at playing a given game depends on

1) Your inate ability to beat that game
2) The amount of time you dedicate to improving said inate ability.

I dont know what weight you should give two factors. But imo, for any long term player luck is pretty much irrelevant. Luck (ie variance) purely accounts for the small up and down blips on your graph. the actual overall path of your profit line depends on the above 2 factors.

Plus of course a lot of players blame "luck" when the simple fact of the matter is they suck at poker.
