My missus actually loves to cook. Most of the time she spends on the internet is looking at recipes. :) That's the reason why I'm 30kg/66lbs overweight

To make your partner love or at least accept poker, start by communicating openly about why poker is important to you and how it can be a fun, intellectual, or even profitable pursuit. Balance your time between poker and your relationship, showing that poker doesn’t dominate your life. Involve them in the experience by teaching them the game casually, without pressure. Show responsibility with bankroll management, ensuring poker doesn’t lead to financial stress. Respect their feelings, listen to their concerns, and compromise on time dedicated to the game. If done right, poker can be seen as an enjoyable part of your lifestyle rather than a disruptive obsession.

You may never get your other half to "love" poker like you do, but if you also make sure they know and show that they are important to you, and their needs matter, it shouldn't be an issue. Relationships are all about compromise.

We get these type of threads on occasion, my thoughts are that if your other half isn't supporting what you like to do, then there is a problem in the relationship that needs to be sorted out, but it goes both ways, if all the poker player does when at home is to play poker, that also is something that needs to be sorted out.

Tonight, beef with mushroom gravy over rice, and probably some kind of fresh veg.

Agree 100%. We all need our own things and interests.

Divide part of your winnings with her, buy goodies with the winnings, and always say that it was all thanks to poker.

This is a very important question, for a player it is important to be in the right environment to progress, for my situation, my wife understood that I am passionate about the game and that it is a sport for me I explained to her that it takes me time, and I always try to always keep the necessary principles of protection, like the money that I play remains separate from the money that I save, and the social security money that I manage the house with I always keep the principle of managing my accounts well.

She accepts me playing cause i play casually so it doesn't affect our schedule or bankroll at all

You have probably noticed that some hobbies in society as a whole are wrong.
You can implement your ideas and evaluate your interests, including partnership.
And of course, you will have to get used to each other, to some compromises. And therefore it is better to coincide with the point of many at the start - this way it will be easier to adapt to each other.

I really like poker, but poker is a solitary and antisocial game. I've been forced to break off a relationship that got in the way of my poker game. Normal people generally have schedules that are incompatible with those of a poker player.

You can't MAKE anyone do anything they don't want, and you shouldn't try. Especially not the ones that you care about. You can share your interests and if they take an interest in it, too, awesome! If not, that's okay too. If your other half cares about you, they would at least accept you for who you are regardless of what you enjoy doing, like poker... unless it's causing you or someone else harm. So, if you're losing large bits of money in poker and don't know when to stop, then that would be a problem. But if you're not, then if they really care, they'll accept you being a poker player.

I don't understand the question. :)
At the beginning I tell her that I play poker (and I'm a winner), if he doesn't like that, then there's no question because it won't lead to a relationship.

He needs to see that you are getting some return from poker, and even then it is still hard to accept, usually, it is you and yourself. Almost no one takes poker seriously, because it is a game, I mean people who do not play.

It's obvious, poker seems to me to be a solitary game, when you start a game you have the objective of making the right decisions, you have to concentrate on all aspects of the game, and you exploit each piece of information, but emotions also influence, when you have a relationship that suits you perfectly you advance in your objectives and you progress quickly and you become an excellent player, but if the opposite a toxic relationship can ruin a player.

My wife did not grow up participating in sports or other forms of competition. I, however, played high school sports and recreational tennis as an adult... so she does not understand that I enjoy poker because at 71 years of age and standing 5'1" tall, I can compete against anyone in poker...I can't beat Tiger Woods at golf, I can't beat Roger Federer at tennis, I can't hit a 100 mph fastball or fight for the UFC championship...but I can sit at the poker table with the best (or worst) poker players in the world, and stand a chance, albeit a small chance.
