But I will say, I am just a recreational player who plays mostly for entertainment.  Yes, I am competitive, and I want to win.  I treat winning poker $'s mostly as a score keeping thing, rather than a money thing.  So, I can understand that it is easier for me to not think about quitting.

On the other hand, if I was trying to play professionally, or said differently trying to support a decent lifestyle based on poker winnings, yikes, I can very easily see why you would consider giving up the game, so to speak.  This is very difficult, I would think.

I cannot hardly even imagine how difficult it would be to be a successful professional poker player, meaning providing a decent lifestyle solely on Poker Income.  A Mastery of the Game, Proper Bankroll management and a Lot of Luck in a Big Game would be a good start (not necessarily in that order).  After that, supplementing your "poker winnings" with coaching income, promotional income, book writing, poker related side-gigs, and what ever other ancillary income opportunities there are, would also likely be necessary to help smooth the poker playing income stream variability.
