Back in high school, the guys were always giving each other crap about something, it was just part of being a guy - and it was especially true in the locker rooms.  It was never meant to really hurt the other person's feelings, it was all done in light hearted manner, a lot like the stuff I talk about at the poker table with the guys - but as light hearted as it was, you remembered that stuff in competition and always wanted to get back at them.  Someone makes a smart remark about your girlfriend and you knew it was all in fun, but you also wanted to make sure they felt that extra aggressive tackle later on in practice.

Sometimes it's giving them crap about their girlfriends, being wrapped around their wive's fingers, etc...  It's enough that it urges them to retaliate on the poker table, and usually end up making a dumb move.  Obviously, you know you're not always friends with the people at a live table, but just nit picking on their outfit out of humor is enough that it can make them do something to get back at you on the table that ends up working in your favor.

Again, I'm never so rude that I start to push the boundaries of human indecency, picking on them to the point of suicide, but usually it's just enough that you just start to get under the skin and a bit annoying.
