What you are referring to is already existent in poker and many mid-game decisions in MTTs seem suicidal but if you take into account how many blinds you have left, playing manic can make very good sense ESPECIALLY once you are in the money. I go fairly suicidal once I'm ITM and if I miss will even suicide-bluff the river and not care. To me profit is profit, playing like a maniac at worst gives me small profit and at best profits me massively once ITM.
