I love showdowns

Whether I am ahead or behind I love showdowns.
Without showdowns poker is boring to me.
It is like getting to third base and not going for home.
The feeling of excitement and impending doom at the same time is what makes the game fun for me.
It is like dinner without dessert.
This is probably why I am a barely profitable player but to me, win or lose, getting to the showdown is worth it.

That is all I have to say about that.

Showdowns for the sake of showdowns only is a waste of time and chips! Hopefully when you go to showdown, you have the edge otherwise you have a huge leak in your game! The object is to win of course and while sometimes you can do that with 'any 2 cards' in the long run, it will cost you.

I could not agree with you all more.
This is why I only play micro stakes poker for fun.
I make money by investing and poker is my hobby so if at the end of the year if am slightly ahead I have a hobby that isn't an expense.
I leave the good playing grinding poker playing to those that anticipate making a living from poker and am more than happy to let them make a few dollars off of me as long as I am the one that is having fun playing.
If you are trying to make a living from online poker I wish you luck.

If you like to go all the way to the river... wether win or lose, thats totally fine, just dont wonder why your game has leaks... people play poker for all reasons, some want to gamble, some want to have fun, some want to pass time, some want to make a little money, some are pros... there is nothing wrong with any of these as long as you know what you are doing. Have fun on the felt brother.

and all the people who say othewise, i know profitable players who almost never fold... yes they are bullies and they could make more playing a better stratergy, but they are still long term winners in the end, the warrior who is bleeding dosent neccarys lose or die... he is just reckless.

They say that for slot players almost winning gives a rush nearly equal to actually winning. It could be that going to showdown has the same effect.

showdowns is a beauty of poker, for every noob player, even he dont have cards on flop our on turn, e continuous pay you to see more and more cards, until in river e gets and win, is beautiful

If going onto a pot, I would rather bet on the flop and win it there and then rather than see the river, which usually I might add gives my opponent the one outer mirracle card he is hoping for.

I agree that poker is boring without confrontation, but caution is necessary to be able to reach the final table ... the rules of a well-played poker make all the difference. already played for play taking risks and the results are bad ... but playing cautiously and with rules everything gets better ...
