Hey MGB As someone else said, allvegaspoker is the best place to do your tournament planning. What sort of buy ins are you looking at? Off the top of my head Mirage tourneys have pretty poor structures, or at least are expensive for what you get. The hotel does have a really nice vibe to it though. Some of the Ceasars tournaments are good (from about $70). Same goes for TI (about the same buy in) TI headhunter for about $125 is really good fun as well. Sahara has the best cheap tournament in town. The best one I played in was the $150 at the Venetian. Would have been even better if I could have hung around for another 6 places or so (went out 15th)! If you do your research on tournaments up front it makes for a much better time. You end up playing all in or fold after the first 30 minutes otherwise. I think I paid $13 plus tip for a taxi from the airport to the MGM in March. $40+ seems a lot. I used the deuce for getting around, taxis if I was going somewhere specific or too drunk or tired to face the deuce. Surely driving would limit your consumption of Corona? I'm very jealous and will now be spending all day tomorrow at work working out whether I can afford another trip to LV before the end of the year.
