I tried building something that incorporated PayPal and got it up and running, but then I decided I didn't want to risk it with PayPal because they don't (and all the other payment processors included) don't allow purchases for online gambling or any other tournament with prizes. But I still think the concepts interesting. What do you think? Should I proceed with the design of the site myself, but just take away the PayPal aspect of it and use it just for freerolls or local poker games. People could set up their own tournaments on the site and email them to poker players in the area - of course in a lot of states private poker is also illegal. In concept, it sounds like a cool idea to me, and I have the ability to do it - save for setting up freerolls with multiple passwords on a poker room, but I'm just afraid the whole legality of it could be pretty sticky situation.
