Actually, I've been playing poker and making a living at it for the last couple years.  My game has actually gotten fairly good and I take money from the people I complain about.  The problem is that, even with the money, it isn't worth it to me anymore.  There are better ways to make money that don't involve dealing with dour people every day. An example from my last time playing was a hand where I flopped a set and turned a boat against a guy who was chasing a flush.  After the river (on which he made his flush) I bet $40 because that was all he had left.  He called and the bet (and lost) and then commented that he wished I had bet more so he could fold.  Now, how in the hell is me betting $80 instead of $40 going to make him fold when we're heads up and he only has $40 left?
I'm not splitting atoms or anything but I do possess above average intelligence and I've finally gotten sick of sitting at a table full of morons.  Guys that make racist comments, talk about how funny Tim Allen is and quote Larry the Cable Guy are hardly Algonquin Round Table candidates.
