1.  I never play with money I cant afford to lose.

2.  I have a level of understanding of the game, or games.  If I were to loose, I know I either played it right, or I made a bad play.  If I made a bad play or read, typically I will rebuy, continue to play, take my notes, and try again.  If I got it in right, and I lose.  Then luck is not on my side and I stop.

Now as for getting addicted.  It's funny you brought that up.  From the age of 21-till about 25 I lost about 10k lifetime.  I couldn't stop, obviously had a problem, and refused to do what it took to get better.  Finally I gave it up at 25.  Then right around when I turned 30, I decided to try playing again.  I was in a better spot in my life, had some extra income coming in, and felt comfortable playing with money I could loose.  This time though, I vowed to actually learn the game, get some coaching, train myself to review hands, and actually get better...

Since then as of Jan. of this year.  (I, 35 now) I have made back everything I lost during the time I could say I was "addicted".
