All you accomplish by 3-betting is folding out worse and being called by better, which turns our hand into a bluff. We may as well take a hand that makes us no money and 3-bet rather than a hand where our highest ev route comes from flatting. I've always advocated every time I enter a pot it's with a raise. Reading this though it did make a lot on sense about why I don't need to brainlessly 3-bet AJo against somebody with a wide opening range. Any thoughts on this? Could be a mega old theory but I've only jsut stumbled across so apologies if it is. Downsides to this is no initiative and having to play the rest of the hand OOP.
