Is it alright to take money from fishes or degenerate gamblers?
I've had issues with this in the past as well. I think some people are addicted to being fishes so sometimes it can be a bit like selling heroin in a way. However, I also remember when I was more of a fish. Looking back now I deserved to lose my money because of my lack of respect for the game. My motivation to gamble was more than to play poker properly. Indeed it still sometimes is severely flawed in moments of tilt. I don't know. I don't play for high stakes anyway and people who do are generally CEOs of "****ing you over international ltd." or do other stuff that isn't exactly the most ethical. For example, I wouldn't exactly feel bad taking every last dime off an investment banker who gambled the entire economy away and was a lobbyist for fracking. To be blatantly honest, I see poker as the peak of free market capitalism. It is pretty libertarian in nature. The game doesn't really give a **** about your personal ethical views and that is what is attractive about it - anyone can play. You can play it and do good things with your money, play it and do bad things with your money, or play it and lose all of your money. The responsibility of how you play the game is upon the individual. You can even play for free if you can't trust yourself with an investment. For me now, an issue with the predatory nature of poker is just an issue with the predatory nature of society. Do I agree with the way everything is in the world? No. I don't like the dog eat dog, gotta get mine, nature that most humans buy into. But at the same time, I can't take care of everybody. If you've staked the same price as me and are coming after my chips, I'm going to try and find a way to beat you. The game is the game. It is a sport to me. It isn't personal. I wish all the best for everyone in the future.
