Is it just bad luck?

Is it possible to just have bad luck when it comes to poker? It seems sometimes, that no matter how good my hand is someone else has a better on. Example, just today, I was on full tilt... I pulled pocket A's, I was in the big blind, and the guy in the small blind pushed all in trying to get me to fold. This asshole had J 9 and landed a boat. This kind of thing seems to be a regular for me. So, does the sight hate me or do I just have bad luck?

Of course it's just bad luck.....You had the dream situation....Aces in BB and YOU didn't have to do the pushing....

I don't get why you call the guy names...people push with crap all the time trying to get people to fold....had you had J9, you wouldn't even have known what he had.

bad luck of course.. the odds are AA 83.5% and J9 16.5%.
so J9 vs aces wins 1 time between 6 hands.. very unlucky imo.

You know... I feel the same way sometimes... especially at FTP it seems. I suspect that it has something to do with the fact that we always remember the bad ones. I mean I KNOW there have been many times when I have been on the winning end of a suck out even a bad beat or two... but I can't remember those NEARLY as well as I remember the times that some fool pushed all in with nothing and sucked it out to beat my pair of rockets or queens (seems I get more queens than kings... but that is niether here nor there LOL).

At any rate, I really do think its much more about how we remember things than anything else. Bad (and good) luck is part of the game, no matter how good or how bad anyone else is.. there is that portion of the game that is PURE DUMB LUCK... LOL

But hey, that is one of the things that makes it kinda fun... at least I think so...

well everyones has had a bad beat like that.... hate when it happens but what can you really do? and if it makes u feel better i saw 9 5 offsuit beat pocket J's earlier by hitting a two pair on flop... LOL i feel your pain bro

Don't let no one blow smoke up your butt my friend. Full tilt has a very very very high 16% beating 84% average. It is not common play when you see this ten times out of twenty. Play free rolls or play knowing that you will lose, that way, you can't complain. 10 out of 20 last time I checked was 50%. Good luck!

And yea, bad luck happens often, but i think its much more about having bad reads on players, and certain circumstances. Like, yea, AA can't always be good. It's not bad luck, it just happens sometimes. If it happens to you 4 straight times, then maybe, you're running bad luck, but in the long run, always evens out.

ya man we all go threw that stuff ive been getting bad beat with all my good hand latly even losing hands that are 3% too be beat lol now thats bad but , nothing you can do but just stick to your game ,player like that depend oly on luck too get by in thi game they will never learn lol not like you can make them not allin junker hand lol tryen too steal 20 BB lol
