In my country playing poker for cash will be counted as gambling and will go to jail for it. I k know if it counts as old-fashioned
I don't know about other states but outside of the two casinos here in Rhode Island I'd imagine that nothing has changed and it is still technically illegal. Whether or not the law is enforced is another question, and I don't think that it is unless someone was running an unlicensed commercial game.

you're at war there just like you're playing poker rockets are flying quietly outside bombs war are coming and you're sitting quietly at home playing poker you need to be taken to a military unit to serve the country and fight: Roflmao: Good luck at the poker tables you have a lot of businessmen play poker and launder money so I just heard about it
In fact, gambling is only allowed in our gaming zones. I hope they won't harass us online.:)

The state wants to control the game of poker to collect fees. When the state cannot legislate to control the game of poker, it bans it. Controlling the citizen's life, controlling everything.

I think in here in California , USA you can play legally in home games unless someone is taking a rake or otherwise making a profit. Most of us just go to the big casinos , where the house drop seems to make it almost impossible to win ( at least on the small stakes tables ).

Yes, we have poker in casinos in the UK.

Pubs sometimes have poker nights, but they are restricted in terms of how much you can play for without them needing a gambling licence to host the games. They're just fun little games.

Statutory Restrictions
Poker can be played in pubs but the following statutory conditions apply:

  • Fixed limit of £5 stake per person per game;
  • Maximum daily stake or prizes £100;
  • Maximum weekly stake or prizes £500;
  • Prohibition on any levy or deductions from stakes or prizes;
  • Prohibition on linking games between premises;
  • No participation fee may be charged;
  • Children and young persons (under 18 years of age) must be excluded.
In people's homes you can do what you want as far as I'm aware just as long as nobody is making profit for hosting the games.

Gambling is allowed in my country, but in specialized licensed establishments. I live in Ukraine, and here gambling is not a violation of the law :)

it really depends on the size of the game. few hundred not a big deal. if it's bigger then you could run in trouble with authorities.

In Hungary, it is legal if it is organized by a casino or a licensed poker room.
Otherwise, it is considered illegal gambling.

The rules for poker in my country (Brazil) still is not very clear. For what I know, you can only play tournaments live, not cash games. But since we don't have laws about online poker, you can play both cash game and tournaments.
