I haven't played an MTT in absolutely ages and i never did play many at all, but just playing some of the 11$R tournaments on stars, the quality of play there is absolutely beyond atrocious. I was absolutely shocked at the amount of dead money in those tournaments. It seems to me that fish are alot more likely to blow $50 on a tournament to "have a shot" or "for some fun", than they are likely to blow alot in a cash game (tho ofc it happens in cash, it just seems like 80% of <$50 buy in MTT are like this). The amount of fish in MTTs is absolutely mind boggling, and, therefore, they should be very profitable. Not only that, it is so easy to learn basic push/fold crap, that imo it really is not difficult to get pretty good at tournaments pretty fast (course i am biased towards cash).
 
Also, again, maybe it is just me, but i find it pretty easy to play long hours if doing tournaments/sngs, but playing long hours in cash is absolutely draining (ie. i can't do it).
