Late registration-Theoretical ?

Many late registration games start off very slow, with very few players to start.

Ex 2 hr late reg, with 6 players starting. (obviously absurd example....for simplicity)

What happens if in 3 minutes only 1 player remains?

Does he win it, or does he have to sit there till the end of late registration?

Most games with ,late reg, state in the tournament lobby, that no prizes will be awarded prior to the end of the late registration.
I like scenario better though

Guess it would just sit there... I like his odds once another player joins. He will have 6 to 1 chip stack!

Can't tell you how every site does it but on Merge I was watching a Badugi tournament and this happened , the tournament had low numbers (not unusual for Badugi) and at that point only paid two spots . Once it got down to only one player which happened before the late registration period ended it was over they paid the last two and closed it .I was hoping to hop in at the end but alas it was not to be.
