Each player is dealt 5 cards one at a time face down.
And then u turn the top card.,, the player left of the dealer starts they can either pick up the turned up card, or take one from the pile, they can only choose one of their 5 turned down cards to trade with,, once they choose either the delt card or the picked up card, the one not taken is put on the discard, and that card becomes part of their hand. 
Same play going around the table for all five cards.
Then once all players have their full hand of chosen cards, you turn over and the player who has the highest poker hand wins...
ITs amazing, once someone has actually had quad kings playing like this,,, very fun and can be frustrating on whether to stay with what you have already or to take the picked up cards.
MIND YOU you can only look at one card to choose from, not the remaining ones..,. .BUT you can look at the cards that you have declared as your own as many times as you want~~
