You cant win at poker by playing tight aggressive and waiting for premium hands. You need to mix it up alot. The two basic reasons are: 1. New players get commited to big hands since they come so few and far between and therefore think they have the divine right to win with them. How often have you seen people call big bets down to the river with Ace high from AK and nothing more? Or gone all in pre flop early to mind way through a tournament with hands like AQ and AK. 2. Premium hands win a little and lose alot. They look so pretty but they aren't. The can lose just like any other two cards and very often do because people just cant fold good hands. 3. If you play tight aggressive you will just get bullied and wont win anything because the moment you do make a move, anyone with half a brain will just fold. Very few people are going to call a tight player when he raises and very few calling stations are going to wait around and keep calling if they dont got you beat with rag hands or are waiting to outdraw you. Not trying to sound patronising guys but I've learnt alot the hard way and been playing a long time. I read a book once when I first started playing poker many years ago and it cost me alot of money. It told me that tight aggressive poker was the "perfect winning style of play". Its not true, because everyone plays that same style these days on the internet and therefore you need to attack from a different angle in order to stay ahead of the game. [/QUOTE]
