I will start with a head scratching WTF was he thinking game that I was involved in. I was playing in a MSPT 20% qualifier for the main event in 2016 at Firekeepers Casino in Battle Creek Michigan. This qualifier had a 220+30 dollar entry fee and the top 20% got an $1100 entry into the Main event. Any extra money went to the bubble person. They paid 15 entries and the 16th player left got $880. My strategy is simple in this type of game. I play conservatively and don't unnecessarily stick my neck out , always keeping in mind the goal is to be there at the end, a person with 1bb left gets the same prize as the person with the most chips. NOW in this game everything went normal and the field dwindled down from79 to 20 players. When we redrew for the final two tables with 20 players left, I had about 45K and was about 7th in chips. I drew seat 1, at 6 was the chip leader, seats 7 and 8 had the two short stacks trying to survive. After a couple of hands I noticed the chip leader was raising every pot and thought that was stupid, He could have sat out, went to dinner and collected his $1100 when he got back. But no, for some reason he had to play every hand. I eliminated a player in 20th place. Somebody at the other table went out in 19th and the very next hand I eliminated a player in 18th place. Now this is where it gets weird. The player in seat six has piddled away his huge stack and now has 60k, my stack, thanks to the two I eliminated, was over 100k. Button was seat 3, seats 4 and 5 were the blinds. Seat 6, the former chip leader was now the Hot Seat. I looked at seat 7 and 8 and they both had less than 2 bbs each. On the deal I got AA. seat 6 raised and it checked around to me and since I was not at risk of being eliminated I reraised, knowing he would either shove or call and C-bet the flop . He did the latter. the flop was A82, he bet , i raised, he shoved and I called, he rolled over 93 offsuit. He was literally drawing dead, and he was eliminated. Every body was stunned, somebody said WTF was he thinking, one of the short stacks said, "I have no idea but I am sure glad he thought it. The two shorts stacks who did not know each other went and had a beer together. Always adjust your game to whatever the goals are....
