We all know that any set preferably middle or top set are monsters, a disguised straight, maybe a top two pair, an over pair (depending on the texture of the flop/board I suppose) and a high flush draw w/ two overcards. But would you say a hand is a monster if you get no action? An example would be AAK on the flop while you hold AK or KK (Obviously it's a monster), but are you going to get paid off? Most likely not, unless he has AQ-AT and that's the only hand that will pay you off I believe. Another example would be the nut flush or even a made flush on the board (unless 4th of that suit hits on 4th or 5th), most of the time you won't get paid off unless the board is something like K-T-9 and someone has QJ and doesn't believe you, or a set. So what I'm asking is.. Do you call it a monster only if you get paid off? Or you do you call it a monster even if you get minimal value? Just a question, what do you think? :marchmell
