All 3 of the previous replies bring up valid points. The pertinent information can be boiled down to a few facts:
a. Did you call the bet (either verbally or by forward motion of your chips? 
b. Were you given ample opportunity to do so?
c. Were your cards on the table and in a location that the "angry mucker" could have seen them had he been paying attention?
d. How do you define the moment when a hand is mucked or dead? (I am assuming that by whatever definition you use that his hand was indeed dead)
e. And as this was a home game, were all parties acting in good faith - namely you?

Personally I would say the hand is yours if you acted in good faith.

However if you had no real intention of calling until you saw the golden opportunity when the hand was mucked and/or you were intentionally hiding your cards hoping for the outcome that eventually came to pass. You are "that guy"

Every regular home game has one of these two types of guys. Either You are a bad faith opportunist, or your opponent is the angry mucker and i hope you got the pot.
