Seems the states are offering nothing of value for that 6%. Pure profit. I don't like that figure so with nothing to offer 2% might be much more reasonable. OR offer something of value for that 6%.

But really, what could any state offer? The internet is an INTERNATIONAL thing, and the states would only be acting as local thugs.

Solve that question and proceed. Else, go back and rethink it.

sounds like good news to me. the 6% tax is very reasonable, the profit you make off of new depositors will exceed the taxes you are asked to pay i'm sure.

online poker is illegal??? lol 6% here so no change at all but nice to know the tax money will not be abused...well atleast 3% of it!

This law makes sense, but people like Patrik Antonius are lucky because they don't have to pay any taxes because of where they live.

Found an article about the bill in the link below. It mentions in it that there would also be an 2% federal tax on deposits as well. So if my math is right - that's a total tax of 8%. Will be interesting to see how all this pans out....or if it actually passes.

That 6% tax sounds nasty. All that on top of the rake would hurt. I think a more reasonable way is taxing 6% on the rake that poker site generate and taxing a much smaller percentage to players like 1-2%.

For some of you sharks out who live in the US and cashed out for over 1k, How much taxes do you pay on cashouts right now? I always seem to break even.

Technically you have to report all income including poker winnings at a casino.

Also you guys realize how long it takes to pass a bill right?

Not long at all if they sneak it in with some other non related bill like they always do.
