For me it seems the longer you play (weeks, months, years) the less it hurts. I've been playing online for about a year and in the beginning I was going "by the book" and when getting beat by a bad hand it was like "what were they thinking". I would get mad, want to punch my monitor, then play another and play looser and lose and go to bed really mad. I don't seems to get as many donk calls that put me over it's the hands where I have QQ otb and the BB shows AA, or I'm SB with AQ and BB with AK, or I have AK and get rivered by AQ those are the hands that put me over. I get a lot more of those aitiations now that just some fool playing anything. Most of these so called donk calls (and I say most not ALL) I bet if you step back and look at everything up to that point (how you were playing, Chip stack, how late or early in the game, or if you should have been in the pot yourself) you'll see it wasn't that wrong for them to call at all. And also you can't call an all in with AA and get beat with a "subpar hand" (Q8, J6, A4,K2) a donk call I've seen people get upset with that also. For me right now "MY" bad beats have been like this Cash game: .05/.10 6 handed My very first hand I post BB (I sit in with min stack $4.00) one fold, next seat raises to .20, fold, fold, player to my right calls .20 I call adding .10 to make it .20 flop comes 5s 10h Ah pot is .65, player to my right checks, I bet .40, Player that raised PF folds, player to my right calls, turn is Qh, player checks, I bet pot $1.45, player calls, pot is $2.90, river is As, player raises all in now I know what everyone is thinking I should bail he has trip Aces, but I don't think so and I get mad and call leaving me with like .30. At first I'm mad because he shows Qh8h and has a larger two pair and I'm thinking what was he doing staying in the pot, then I realize he had a flush draw, so I calm down bit But now If I won would I be the donk playing that hand, yes I got the pot odds to call but sometimes you just shouldn't be playing. I know all the big guns on the site will say everything I did wrong or not wrong, but this was just to show how we get mad without looking at everything first. I could have posted this better and I apologize. So all I'm saying is next time when you get your KK busted by 32 take a look at everything first ( was it early in a tourney? you will rarely find it happening late, were you both in the blinds? I go into stretches where I get killed no matter what I have, or were they short stacked just trying to survive? It doesn't alweays make you feel better but It helps you learn.) Now you can shatter your mouse against the wall. I read somewhere from a pro that they get the more bad beats than anyone because they play more and who they are. Makes sense. And also saw somewhere that the more bad beats you get the better YOU are playing. I'm out and GL at the tables Dirtydog
