PokerStars doesn't offer rake back.  As someone said above they do their rake back with points and VPP stuff.

The Poker sites still make money, they aren't giving back all the rake that is paid.  Affiliates generate business for poker sites.  So the site doesn't have to pay as much for advertising.  The Affiliate wouldn't do this for free.  So the poker site overs them usually 30 to 35% of the rake the customer they referred generates.  So Affiliates can make a nice chunk of change if the players they sign up do a lot of volume.  To drum up more business, the affiliates figured out if we offer rake back to people that sign up through us.  More people will sign up with us.  People that are likely to do a lot of volume, so they will make more money in the long run.  Long story short, it's just a marketing ploy that happens to benefit all the parties involved.  Make sense now?
