Good article. I certainly helps the cause to have a reasonable article like this in such a respected and widely read outlet. On a certain other forum people were nitpicking some of the authors descriptions of Lederer etc but its important to remember that educating the mass of people who don't go to forums etc is hugely +EV.

We need the public on our side or at least not against us.

Thanks for posting this here OP.

Not exactly painstaking investigative reporting, but not bad, especially for helping to put / keep the issue in the public eye. As for when the wheels of government will turn enough to actually do something, and how solid vs watered down said action will turn out the be, those are big questions still to be answered.

You mean this isn't true? From the article ...

(Absolute Poker and PokerStars are reimbursing American players; PokerStars denies that it broke laws, and Absolute said it would not be appropriate to comment on the case.)

Lederer "Kasparov of poker" hahahahahahaha. If he's Kasparov I'm Bobby Fischer.

Also Chad Hills is a world class idiot.

No AP is not paying back lol.

Yes lol there are a few flaws in the story, but I think like peeps above that the article gives a mainstream platform for Legalizing It... or at least educating the general public a bit (they don't want to know any more than two pages worth :D)...
Note that the article says some 2 million Americans play, that is less than 1% of the population, so keep in mind that the public does not care about nitpicky stuff, just the broad strokes...

BTW Ark yr avatar shows you are a real thinker; and 5 posts in 3 years suggests you are a cautious and exhaustive examiner of the issues... ;) Stick around another 3 years, you might get a promotion!!

Well, do not bash on Christians. They do not realize that there is other things more important to be FOCUSING on lol. Like online pornography. Or illegal downloading, pirating, ext ext. When our goverment fixes these problems for minors THEN i think they should look at online gambling :p until then GET OFF MY NUTZ!!!

"Chad Hills, who analyzes the gambling industry for Focus on the Family, says the skill-versus-chance argument is nonsense. True, players can improve their game with practice and so on — but the cards ultimately determine who wins and who loses."

Is that so? I bet I could beat this chump without ever even looking at my cards.
