Statistics simplified should tell you that the point is not to get the best hand possible. That you should only need a better hand that beats every other hand at the table. Well if you are playing at a table of 9 players, do you push all-in once every 9th hand you're dealt? Of course not, because there are other factors than that simple statistic. Just like there are other factors than the 52 cards/outs and all the other statistics in poker. There are human errors, there are reads. Luck is just the description of needing all the elements to favor you over your opponent. I cannot think of a consistently successful poker player that ever made it to the top solely playing the odd of his cards.
