 - Ivey started out playing [B]live stud games[/B].  He didn't start out in NLHE.  Think about how few books there are that cover stud now, let alone how few there were back then.
 
I'd say [I]Super System[/I] and Sklansky's [I]Theory of Poker[/I] would be the major contenders.  Maybe there's a handful of other titles that would be applicable too.
 
Anywho, my point is that sure, it sounds unlikely that a guy who plays poker for a living has never read a single one of the tousands of poker books that are available.  But when you consider that only a very small number of them were in contention for him to read anyway I think it becomes a lot more plausible.
