Player says thanks after winning a big pot

If I'm playing with a jerk or someone that is constantly pushing and I catch them sometimes I'll say thanks. Or if I can tell a big stack just lost some chips on a bad beat or something I might try and get under their skin and put them on tilt. Then if I know people are mad at me I'll only play quality hands and slow play to catch them again. Mental is a big part of the game.

If you raise the river and then say TY before villain acts , is this offensive . Is calling a fellow poker player a villain , offensive . I find the word RIGTARD offensive and this is used extensively here and if we all turned off chat this site would fold . Because of small minded easily offended players , chat on PP is non existent . Railing is something i enjoy, but Party excludes rail chat because of . :withstupi TY

without the hihi it could have been me, I say sometimes THANKS to the dealer, or the universe, that I was dealt a hand, but nothing offensive...:wavey:

Online, it can be difficult to interpret the intent behind someone's comments. Live, it is a bit easier, of course.

I try not to take anything said at the table too seriously because
1) I don't know if the person is being sincere
2) I don't know if I'm interpreting their intent correctly
3) Their intent may be to be rude to try to tilt the other players

That said, it can be difficult to ignore someone who is being a jerk. But, if they impact your play, they win.

I am furious with that! But I think in poker we have to be psychologically superior to our opponents, so I try to control my emotions and I do silence.

awesome post I hear this all time online never tilted me at casino this like always sent my gaskets blow like bugged me long long time I would start saying no it wasn't you sucked out you made such horrible play this was quite awhile back now . Now in reality i realize that due to nature of game and odds you wanna say thanks smile something and move on most players doing this make games profitable and that is why you can get a quality edge in game so smile move on but it is definetly hard to get out that mindset
