Is playing poker a sign of psychological problems?

Academic research has often assumed that people who play poker or gamble have some kind of mental problem (Kusyszyn, 1978), when, in fact there almost no research done to see if this is the case. That’s why the University of Manitoba is looking for poker players who are willing to respond to an online questionnaire about mental health and addiction. If you:


• Are 18 years or older
• Can read and write in English
• Have played any kind of poker in any setting in the past year
• Are willing to volunteer 10 to 15 minutes of your time to fill out a quick questionnaire to aid gambling research

I agree, lotta sicko poker players roaming around

But truthfully, it can lead to quite a severe addiction for some. Poker, leads to Sports Betting, then higher addictive gambling where a person always needs to be in action. Sometimes it takes hold of a person and they ruin their whole life, including family break-up, financial ruin. The great thing about playing online for today's poker players, is you can avoid some of the constant sadness when you play in a live casino setting...
